People always say that making $100K/yr could be a lot or not-so-much depending on what city you live in the US. I think savings, however, is a bit more universal than salary just because it really strips down all of the expenses. So, Quora, I ask you, what have most people saved by the time they are 30? What's an above-average amount (but still attained by a decent portion)?
Note: A great answer will state how much money you saved by the time you were 30, whether that was more/less than most of your friends, and what kind of work you did before 30 in order to save that amount. I'd also be interested in what city you currently reside in.
Bonus points: Any advice for someone who's 24, working in tech in SF, making 60k/yr as a data analyst? I'm trying to create some goals for 30.
